  With less than two weeks to go until Christmas, parents will no doubt be eager for the Elf on the Elf on the Shelf to return to their homes in the North Pole on December 24.

  The naughty elf phenomenon has captured the imaginations of grown-ups and kids alike in recent years, but after a couple of weeks of coming up with ideas, it can lose its appeal.

  With grown-ups expected to pose the cheeky elves each night for the kids to discover the next morning, it seems easy – until it’s not.
